This is the smallest dog breed in the world. These dogs are naturally small and aren’t the result of breeding-down large dogs, as were with other toy breeds. According to the AKC standard, these dogs should not exceed 6 pounds, but pet quality dogs can be up to 12 pounds. The distinctive characteristic of the breed is the head, which is well rounded and has a small pointed muzzle. The eyes of these dogs are large and luminous; the large ears are held erect.
