Chihuahuas - Breeders - Finding a Proper Breeder

You must be very careful and serious about finding a reputable and qualified breeder. Now I am giving you several pieces of advice, which will help you to distinguish between true breeders and avaricious and irresponsible puppy-mills.

True breeders are infinitely concerned about the future of the breed, and they are very meticulous about preventing the infiltration of faulty features into the breed. They never have many puppies in their homes, and they never deal in more than two breeds.

Therefore, when you go to the breeder's place, you should pay attention to the overall condition in the house and the look of the puppies. Usually their appearance and behavior reflects their true life. Are they lively and gleeful or do they look weary and shabby? This is a prompt for you to decide if it is advisable to buy puppies from this particular breeder.

A true breeder will never sell his or her puppy to you unless he or she knows you are fit for dog keeping. Therefore, you must be ready for a long procedure of scanning, which will involve filling in long questionnaires about your attitude toward the breed, its history and current condition, your home, family, other pets in your house and children in your house. You also must be prepared to wait for a lengthy time interval because breeders have long wait-lists of potential buyers.

Qualified breeders have all necessary kennel club registration documents, which prove their rights to present their pets at dog shows and to have them involved in breeding projects. True breeders are never hesitant about sharing with future buyers any information about possible undesired traits of their Chihuahuas. Nor do they withhold any specifics which may have once occurred somewhere down the pedigree line.
