Chihuahuas are vivid, energetic, curious and loving dogs. They are very protective around their owners, and they can be rather aggressive toward strangers and other dogs. Chihuahuas never put up with their miniature size, and their energy and self-esteem appear to be diametrically opposite to their dimensions.

Chihuahuas always follow their owners around wherever they go in the house, and they are fond of licking their owners' face. Chihuahuas love human company very much. Although they are intolerant of other dogs, they can get on well with dogs of the same breed, and the presence of another Chihuahua in the house can be helpful in alleviating the sense of loneliness when the master is away from home.

Chihuahuas are not very good with small children, who usually display interest in them by teasing, and this may result in bites. Because Chihuahuas are faithful to no more than one or two people, they are excellent for elderly, lonely or physically handicapped people.

Chihuahuas - Breeders - Care and Health

Chihuahuas are purely domestic dogs. They are very sensitive to cold, and therefore you should not expose them to sharp temperature fluctuations. Buy a dog-sweater and dress your doggy in it during cold seasons.

In order to prevent infection, bathe your dog regularly, but not too often. Bathe Chihuahuas once per month. Frequent bathing may result in the destruction of natural oil of the coat and the appearance of dandruff. Wipe your pet with a damp piece of cloth. Long-haired Chihuahuas must be groomed regularly in order to prevent their coats from snarling up.

Chihuahuas have very fragile bones, and they are extremely sensitive to traumas. Species with unclosed moleras necessitate treatment with particular care and caution. Puppies have big heads and, therefore, more often than not, births require Caesarian section.

Chihuahuas also suffer from substance exchange disorder. Hypoglycemia is one of the most dangerous diseases, which affects coordination and often leads to premature death. Hypoglycemic dogs should have sugary food or honey included in their ratio. Chihuahuas are prone to cold and rheumatism and, therefore, avoid their exposure to cold weather.

Chihuahuas - Chihuahuas make up a toy group and possesse many of the attributes peculiar to such breeds. Due to their small size Chihuahuas are very famous and loved. These animals are alert and merry, though suspicious towards strangers. Living in a small apartment usually does not bother Chihuahuas in spite of the fact that they have a natural need to run around and explore the environment. Striving for emotional contact and communication makes the Chihuahua a wonderful pet for children, adults, elderly people and those with disabilities.

The state of Chihuahua in Mexico is believed to be the origin of the breed though most people think the dog was indigenous to the southern parts of Mexico or even to the whole country. Aztecs seemed to have known the Chihuahua long ago as did the Toltecs whose drawings of the Techichi, the ancestor of the present day Chihuahua, were found to confirm the breed's old age.

Chihuahuas Pictures - Chihuahuas are small toy dogs that appeared in the New World long ago. It is believed that the breed was developed in China and then Spanish merchants introduced it to America. For Aztecs it was a sort of a sacred dog. The power of leading the dead into the underworld was attributed to them and thus, almost every family kept the Chihuahua to sacrifice it when a member of the family passed away.

Toltecs used to breed the Techichi, an ancient replica of the Chihuahua we know today. After Aztecs conquered this ancient people and then were subdued themselves the Techichi's trace was lost. The dog appeared in Mexico only in 1850. This tiny living being was named after the state of Chihuahua and then moved to the United States of America.

Chihuahuas Breeders - Chihuahuas are probably one of the few dogs that can boast to be of more or less definite origin. Though there are various suggestions on the point of the Chihuahuas home, one thing is certain. This breed has a long history. Aztecs seemed to value the Chihuahua greatly as they believed it guided the dead to the underworld.

Ancient carvings of the Chihuahuas ancestor evidently made by Toltecs force one to think about the breed's significance in their culture. Obviously, the dog acted as a great human companion. Surely, its tiny size could not let them use this living being as a guard dog or a working dog but its qualities helped the Chihuahua make a good watchdog.

Chihuahuas Puppies - Chihuahuas are perfect friends for they display true love and devotion to their masters. These little sweet-tempered creatures looking more like toys than animals are famous for their close attachments to those who treat them right. However, the breed is not apt to trust the first person that approaches it, thus making an ideal watchdog. It needs a lot of care and attention. Nevertheless, raising a Chihuahua always turns out to be very rewarding.

The smallest dog in the world, the Chihuahua is not the result of deliberate crosses. There can be smoothcoats and longcoats. Note that in England they are considered to be different breeds and consequently are never interbred. In America no distinction is made, so it is not rare to have both smoothcoats and longcoats in one and the same litter.

Chihuahuas - Chihuahuas are the descendants of a small dog whose carvings have been found in the regions of Mexico. The carvings in the Monastery of Huejotzingo are reported to depict small dogs that were known to the Toltecs civilization. This civilization is said to exist as long ago as the 9th century A.D. Though there is little information on the Toltecs, it is a sure thing that they did know a small dog close in its appearance to the Chihuahua.

Techichi, the ancestor of the Chihuahua, might also have existed at Chichen Itza in Yucatan. The Techichi had a long coat and was heavy-boned. The dog was often in religious rituals. In fact, many remains of the dog have been found in graves.

Chihuahuas Photos - Chihuahuas are considered a Mexican dog breed and they were named after one of the Mexican provinces. A hypothesis exists stating that their introduction into Mexico was by the Chinese. However, there are numerous facts and pieces of evidence, which prove that the existence of Chihuahua’s early ancestors lived during the times of the ancient Toltecs and Aztecs.

When Christopher Columbus was exploring the American continent, he encountered a small dog, which, according to his descriptions, ‘did not bark as usual’. This dog, named ‘Techichi’, was an object of worship among the Aztecs and the Toltecs.

Chihuahuas Breeders Pictures - The belief is that Chihuahuas, officially registered in 1904 at the American Kennel Club, originated in Mexico in the town of Chihuahua. Early predecessors of modern Chihuahuas lived on the American continent in the times of ancient Toltecs and Aztecs.

These would-be-Chihuahuas were called ‘Techichies’ and tribesmen considered them to be sacred dogs, which guarded humans from sins and evil forces. Archaeologists have found skeletons of these dogs in ancient Aztecs’ and Toltecs’ graves, who thus sacrificed the animals in order to secure the soul of the dead person against evil spirits.

Chihuahuas Pictures - Chihuahuas are but the cutest dogs on earth, and they are perfectly suitable as home pets. Their face wears an amusingly saucy and foolhardy expression, which makes us forget for a moment about their miniature size. These dogs are whole-hearted family companions and there are few breeds to match them in the love of their owners, reaching the point of interminable jealousy. Chihuahuas live 11-18 years.

The breed appeared in the town of Chihuahua, Mexico, although many recently discovered stone engravings by archaeologists testify to the breed’s relation to the ancient times of Toltecs and Aztecs. Depicted on these engravings are dogs, which bear close resemblance to the modern Chihuahua.

This permits a modular approach to building a web site or other content repository, promoting reusability, cross-site consistency, ease of construction and subsequent maintenance. Common elements such as headers, footers, menu bars, tables, and so on, can be created as separate template files which can then be processed into other documents as required. All defined variables are inherited by these templates along with any additional "local" values specified.

Chihuahuas Puppy - Chihuahuas are the smallest dogs in the world. These creatures are referred to as toys dogs. Naturally, they have never been hunting or guarding dogs. The breed originated in Mexico, in the state of Chihuahua. They say that the breed existed at the times of ancient Incas and Aztecs or imported from South America by the Spanish Conquistadors.

These very tiny dogs are the smallest and, although they make neither guards nor hunters, they are very good pets and companions. These very loyal dogs are very devoted to their owners and are very intelligent, too. Notwithstanding their small size, these are strong-willed animals and respond best to positive-reinforcement training.

Chihuahuas Rescues Breeders - Chihuahuas are the smallest dogs in the world. Fanciers breed Chihuahuas for apartment life and do not intend them for service or jobs that involve hard work or agility. Chihuahuas are pure toy dogs and people keep them as pets and home companions.

The belief is that the dog appeared in Chihuahua, a state of Mexico. However, there is still little certainty as to where the dog originated in fact. Some think, that the dog arrived in Mexico with Asian and Chinese immigrants. Others believe that the breed is native to South America, and this viewpoint does have some proof. Fragments of dogs' skeletons found in ancient graves indicate that natives probably worshipped them.

Chihuahuas Rescues Pictures - Chihuahuas are the world's smallest dogs. They are purely ornamental toy dogs and are not intended for tough assignments, such as hunting or guarding. The breed originated in Mexico, in the state of Chihuahua, although there is still much ambiguity about its true origin. Some think that the breed existed at the times of ancient Incas and Aztecs or was brought from South America by the Spanish Conquistadors.

However, archaeologists found ancient Toltec graves with small dog skeletons in them, which indicates that the history of Chihuahuas goes farther back and the dog might well have been an element of ancient religious rites. Others believe that Chihuahuas arrived from Asia (China, Egypt etc.).

Chihuahuas Rescues - Chihuahuas are the world’s smallest species of dogs. They are believed by many to have originated in either China or in Mexico, although actually there is no telling where exactly they came from. The breed was named after one of Mexico’s states. It is more likely that the dog arrived to the country across the Bering Strait along with the Chinese immigrants. There is also a slightly different theory of the breed’s origin. According to this theory, Chihuahuas were brought to Mexico along with Xoloinitzcuintly, another miniature dog. These dogs were hairless and the breed was called the ‘Mexican Hairless Dog’.
