View a chihuahua puppy picture in a rescue or kennel. These canines are long-lived and healthy, and they rarely suffer from hereditary diseases. Their life span averages 15-17 years, and they retain their energy and stamina throughout life time. However, they are sensitive to cold, mainly due to the structure of their noses. They have prominent eyes that are exposed to physical influences. Their bones are very fragile, and puppies have a molera – an unclosed section of the skull, that sometimes remains open for the rest of the life. Animals with unclosed moleras are extremely prone to head injuries. View a chihuahua puppy picture in a rescue or kennel. All whelping females of this breed should be attended and supervised to avoid unpleasant situations. It is important to remove the placental membrane from each cub for them to breathe. The mother has to clean the litter and stimulate the babies’ circulation by licking. The newborns can not control their body temperature and they should be kept in an environment of approximately 85 degrees not to get chilled. If the babies are not able to nurse properly, they have to be fed by hand. View a chihuahua puppy picture in a rescue or kennel.
